Onboarding new sales reps
A new colleague learns most from the first real calls, and those cost a customer. Rehearsing moves the first mistakes to a place where they cost nothing.
This page describes training: practising a call with an AI client. DIRI AI does not evaluate employees, and the outcome of a call is not a basis for decisions about people.
The situation: the first weeks in a call centre
A new rep knows the product from a presentation but has never held a call with a real person under time pressure. The mentor does not have the capacity to listen to every call.
- The training is theoretical, and the first calls come a few days later.
- Mentors listen to only some of the calls, and feedback arrives late.
- Every newcomer fears the same first objection, and nobody has tried it out loud beforehand.
Typical mistakes of the first weeks
These are common beginner patterns, not individual failures.
- Reciting a memorised text without listening to the client.
- Explaining the product for too long before finding out what the client needs.
- Panicking at an objection that nobody practised in advance.
- Ending the call vaguely, with no next step.
- Repeating the same mistake because feedback does not arrive in time.
How you practise it in DIRI AI
A team or a mentor chooses the situations, and the newcomer goes through them by voice whenever they have time. They get feedback straight after the call.
- Pick ready-made scenarios for key calls, or write your own based on your call centre's actual product and script.
- Start with lower difficulty and gradually add more demanding client types.
- The newcomer calls the AI client and leads the call in their own words.
- The report after the call quotes specific moments from the transcript and suggests one change to practise.
- The mentor can focus on what AI cannot replace: a conversation about why something is not working for the newcomer.
A sample from practice
The newcomer tries out the opening of a call and the first objection from a client who has no time.
- You
- Hello, this is Jane from online sales. I am calling about your enquiry for a tariff. Do you have a moment now?
- AI client
- Not really, I am driving. What is it about?
- You
- In that case I will call you back. Would after six this evening suit you, or would you rather tomorrow morning?
- AI client
- Tomorrow morning would work, but it should not take long.
- You
- Allow about ten minutes. I will call tomorrow at ten. Is this the number you are on now?
- AI client
- Yes, that is my number. See you tomorrow, then.
This example is fictional. It is not a transcript of a real call and not a sample of an evaluation output.
Frequently asked questions
Does practising with AI replace a mentor or a trainer?
No. It gives new people a safe place to repeat between training sessions and conversations with a mentor. A person decides what is important to improve.
Is the report after a call a basis for evaluating a newcomer or ending a probation period?
No. The results are meant for training. They are neither designed nor validated as a basis for decisions about an employee, and they must not be the sole reason for such a decision.
Can we use our own script and our own product?
Yes, you can write your own scenario and set both the difficulty and the client type. Do not put customers' personal data into it.
How do we get started with a team?
Anyone can start on the Free plan. For a team, a 90-day pilot is available, which you arrange through the contact page.
Does the practice also work for Slovak or German markets?
Yes, practice works in Czech, Slovak, Polish, German and English. Scores for calls outside Czech are marked as preliminary.
